Statement on Sweden: Due to exhaustion among the band and crew, the Morrissey headline engagement at Hovet has been cancelled. Refunds will be available at the point of purchase. The scheduled appearance on Allsång på Skansen has also been cancelled.
Morrissey’s statement suggests that it’s not exhaustion, but rather financial: The pain at not reaching Stockholm this week is horrific for the band and crew. I know it’s impossible for people to understand, but we dream of Stockholm, Reykjavik, Trondheim, Helsinki, Aarhus … but there is no financial support from imaginary record labels to get us to such places. In the last seven days we have traveled into six countries, and we are travel-weary beyond belief. We can barely see. We pray to God that someone, somewhere can help us reach Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Denmark … where we have thousands upon thousands of friends, yet absolutely zero music industry support. No label will release our music, no radio will play our music … and yet our ticket sales are sensational. – Morrissey.

After nearly two decades of banning Canada, Morrissey announced in September 2018 that he would return to the country: “My decision to return to Canada after almost 15 years of protest against its savage and Neanderthal annual Baby Seal Kill is entirely because my stance was ultimately of no use and helped no one. My voice was drowned out by the merciless swing of spiked axes crushing the heads of babies. On my return to Canada I feel that I can be of more use by making sizeable donations to animal protection groups in each city that I play.”
04/13/2019: Thanks to several fans who reported that Morrissey officially cancelled some Canadian dates.
Rob sent in: “Due to a medical emergency stemming from an accident incurred while traveling in Europe, Morrissey will be forced to postpone his performances in Vancouver to October 14th and 15th, 2019. Spirits are high and the artist is on the path to a swift recovery. All tickets will be valid for the new date and exchanges will not be necessary. Thank you for your understanding. Morrissey looks forward to making his long-awaited return to the city and wishes to deeply thank everyone for their patience. All remaining dates on Morrissey’s tour will resume as planned, commencing in Toronto on Friday Apr 26.”
Due to complications from the extreme flood conditions in the Houston area, the Morrissey / Interpol concert set to take place tonight has been re-scheduled for Oct 28th.
It was determined to move the event in consideration and respect of the troubles that people in the area have recently encountered.
It is the group’s wishes that the rescheduled date can better serve all who would like to come to the event.
Morrissey’s team reached the decision after hearing that a number of ticket buyers were having issues attending tonight’s event, along with information of current road closures and other related problematic details.
The team would like to express their deepest apologies for any inconvenience to the fans.
All tickets originally purchased for September 21st show will be honored for the new date on October 28th, 2019.

After Manzur was hospitalized, Morrissey cancelled the remaining six dates on his tour, no thanks to “mismanagement of tour funds” by 360 Management. Read all about it on rollingstone.com.
“When Gustavo [Manzur, keyboardist] collapsed at the Boulder show, 360 Management responded with the announcement that all funds had suddenly evaporated. There was apparently not even enough money to transport the touring party to the next scheduled city, and 360 Management faded out as quickly as they had faded in.”
Manzur collapsed backstage on November 14th prior to Morrissey’s sold-out concert in Boulder, Colorado. All subsequent shows were postponed while Manzur recovered from the unspecified illness.
“This is a family, we stay together, and we can’t move until we know what’s happened to him,” Morrissey said at the time. “We’re going to sit backstage for awhile and wait to see what’s happened to him, if there’s any magical cure.”

The vegetarian singer, 55, was due to perform in Reykjavik but pulled out after his demands went unfulfilled.
“I love Iceland and have waited a long time to return,” Morrissey wrote on his True to You fan website. “But I shall leave the Harpa Concert Hall to their cannibalistic flesh-eating bloodlust.”

Morrissey has cancelled his entire US tour, citing a respiratory infection and 'acute fever' he claims he caught from his support act, Kristeen Young.
According to a statement released via the singer's Facebook page, the former Smiths frontman is said to be recovering from an illness contracted in Miami: “It is with great sadness that the remainder of the US tour has been cancelled. The respiratory infection Morrissey contracted in Miami has worsened, and in the interest of making a full recovery, all further touring plans have been halted. Morrissey thanks his fans for their compassion, understanding, and well-wishes during this difficult period as he recuperates.”
Alongside this statement is a message on his fansite True To You, which explains in further detail that the 55-year-old collapsed following a show at Boston Opera House and was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital "where doctors treated Morrissey for 'acute fever'."
The cause of the singer's illness has been pinned to support act Kristeen Young, the singer-songwriter from St Louis, who is said to have confessed to "a horrendous cold" previously on the tour. "The symptoms of which were passed on to Morrissey resulting in the cancellation of the next show in Atlanta," his statement reads.
"For the good of all", Kristeen was then asked to step down from the immediate upcoming shows, but instead left the tour entirely. According to various sources however, Young claims that Morrissey's allegations are incorrect, denying that her poor health was the cause for her leaving the tour.

Morrissey explains, in his own words, “I am informed today that the projected tour of South America is snuffed out, thus euthanized – due, I’m reliably advised, to lack of funding. It’s quite easy to sell tickets, yet impossible to transport band and crew from F to G. In a year when far too many disappointments have been buried this really is the last of many final straws, and I am not alone in feeling this. The future is suddenly absent, and my apologies are now so frequent as to be somewhat ridiculous, and it is I who apologize because no one else would bother. It is agonizing to be responsible for imparting such news – especially when it springs upon me unexpectedly and inexplicably. But the collapse of South America rings the curtain down with a colossal thud, and the major problems remain as insoluble now as they were in 2009. The obvious conclusion stares back at me from the mirror, and the wheels are finally off the covered wagon. Cancellations and illness have sucked the life out of all of us, and the only sensible solution seems to be the art of doing nothing.
As always I ask your pardon, and I offer pangs of overwhelming love and gratitude to the band and the crew, whose loyalty stretched above and beyond.”

Morrissey’s mother was hospitalized. Can’t really blame Morrissey’s humanity for suddenly stopping his tour to fly back to England to see his mother in the hospital. Originally it was only going to be a few days before he resume his tour… but unfortunately the remainder of the 2012 dates were all postponed until 2013. Those 2013 announced were also cancelled due to “a series of medical mishaps”, but you can read all about that in the 2013 entries.

05 Dec 2009 Indio, CA – Fantasy Springs (Morrissey has blown out his voice)
This was the year Morrissey vs the “recurring illness was a bout of influenza”, according to express.co.uk.
Morrissey writes, "The physical limits were tipped in Swindon - these were life's unfortunate lows. I spent the night at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon where the staff restored my faith in humanity. I had no idea such kindness existed.
"There were more stop-start-trap-doors and cancellations this year than ever before, and it's difficult to keep your mental balance and to remain unclouded at such times. Since every living person appeared to have some strain of flu, there seemed no reason why I should escape it, and I could not listen to medical advice that cautioned me to stand back from the audience and not to shake anyone's hand. Life has come to this?"

26 Jan 2008 London – Roundhouse (they tried to move the show to the Forum, but Morrissey refused)
27 Jan 2008 London – Roundhouse
January 25: The show ended after only four songs, according David F: “Moz was clearly struggling with his throat from the start. Performed Please,Please then International Playboys plus Squeezed my Skull, got halfway through Make the Boy Happy & then gave up.He sounded terrible & clearly couldn’t continue. After a 10 minute interval Russell Brand, David Walliams and Jonathan Ross came onstage to say he wouldn’t be coming back out. Russell Brand was, perhaps predictably, wildly booed & splattered in beer….Refunds have been promised – see four song setlist
Due to illness from January 25, Morrissey wanted to postponed the Jan 26 and 27 shows to a later date, but the Roundhouse was booked on the desired dates. They tried to move the show to the Forum, but Morrissey refused, because he played there in 1999 and had no desire to return, according to ratty

11 Jun 2005 Nokia Isle of Wight Music Festival – Newport, England
From nme.com:
A statement reads: “Morrissey will regrettably not be appearing at the Isle Of Wight Festival on the 11th of June as scheduled. The pressure of preparing the new album and losing his drummer earlier this month has made it impossible to do the gig without massively compromising both the gig and the album. Apologies to all the fans, the organisers and the people of the Isle Of Wight.”

Details from www.today.com
Heaven knows Craig Kilborn is miserable now.
The talk show host’s highly anticipated plan to broadcast performances by his idol, Morrissey, every night this week fell through Monday when the English singer bowed out because of illness, a spokeswoman for CBS’ “Late Late Show” said.
The moody Mancunian was set to tape two songs Monday, including his new single “Irish Blood, English Heart,” for broadcast Monday and Tuesday. He was then scheduled to return Wednesday to tape three songs to round out the week.

Not Morrissey’s fault, but he, along with Sonic Youth, PJ Harvey, the Flaming Lips, were supposed to headline Lollapalooza 2004… but the whole tour was cancelled because of poor ticket sales. Read all about it on rollingstone.com.
Lollapalooza founders Perry Farrell and Marc Geiger talk about their efforts to revive the festival in 2004 as a tour featuring Morrissey, Sonic Youth, PJ Harvey, Pixies, and the Flaming Lips. But this was a good decade past the alternative rock revolution, and it was canceled due to anemic ticket sales. “We made some bad mistakes trying to revive something that shouldn’t have been revived,” Geiger says. “It fell on its face…We’d been through so much and the ups and downs, and trying to stay on edge where there just isn’t an edge anymore.”
01 Aug 2004 Naeba, Japan - Fuji Rock Festival (Cancelled)
07 Aug 2004 Benicàssim, Spain - Benicàssim Festival (Cancelled)
27 Aug 2004 Paris – Rock en Seine Festival (Cancelled)
I can only speculate this show was cancelled because Morrissey thought he would be recovering from Lollapalooza or that the dates were too close for comfort. The Spain cancellation was due to "plane having technical problems" One thing is common, they're all festival dates.

17 Feb 2000 Pittsburgh, PA – A.J. Palumbo Center (Cancelled)
Postponed and never rescheduled.
Morrissey may have been referring to this concert when he told the Pittsbugh Post-Gazette in 2013: “I arrived for the soundcheck and I was told that the night had to be ‘pulled’ because the stage wasn’t safe. There were a lot of people queuing in the rain, and backstage was abysmal — I don’t think there was even a toilet. When you’re faced with such situations you feel so much anger with local promoters because they charge such high ticket prices yet they have no concern for either the comfort of the artist or the safety of the audience … they think the night will just roll along on enthusiasm, which is wrong.”
